A tutorial on my version of how to make troll horns for homestuck cosplays! It's useful for making light yet large horns (like Ancestor horns)
(sorry if its kind of obvious at times?)
Note: I made the Condesce horn, under the ancestor horn upload.
Normal: Pro: Super Light Pro: Super Cheap Pro: Both horns look the same (color and shape) Pro: Dont have to paint it Con: Breakable Con: Papercraft lines show
With bondo: Pro: Super Light Pro: Super pro looking Pro: Cant misshape horn Con: Somewhat expensive (but if you make multiple its not) Con: Have to paint it Con: Fiberglass requires safety gear and smells terrible.
Steps not shown:
1. Download Pepakura Viewer [link] 2. Download one of the papercraft horns from either me or wherever else you can find one 3. Open in pepakura viewer 4. Decide whether you would like to paint the papercraft or print it in color. If you want it in color, leave it. If not, click settings => Display Settings => change Face to White 5. Print!
If you use bondo, make SURE to use proper safety gear, and read the package. It needs to sit outside for at least 2 hours, you need to paint it outside, and you need to protect your skin, your eyes, and especially your lungs.
(I will upload info l8r on how to paint the horn, then i will post that link here: )
Final Step: Hot glue the horns to a headband, then add extra glue and super glue and bring glue with you because life happens. HAVE FUN
I'm gonna try and make a pair of papercraft Eridan horns and a pair of Kanaya horns now in the days. But I don't have the means to work with resin or fiberglass, so I'm going to try and use papier machée and gesso to strenghten them, and make a smooth surface with air clay. I will let you know how it works out : )
Ah, yeah I've doe paper mache before! When I'm done with the layer of paper mache, i usually use modge podge, then paint, then another layer of modge podge so its really shiny (and also stronger :3) But also you can print out the horns white and just paint them, the lines arent too noticeable and they're still pretty great. Also to make the horns shiny in general, modge podge is gr8

Not air clay, sorry x'D
